I do not have the time to say much, but I have recently learned about a new parenting ideology called Gentle Parenting. I was sad to hear that a woman named Janet Lansbury has taken RIE and basically turned it into gentle parenting. So I just wanted to say here that I love RIE books by Emi Pikler. I think the ones by Magda Gerber are good as well. I have never read any by Lansbury, but from what I have heard they are horrific--totally divorced from reality. I do not in any way recommend any RIE parenting strategies that have been changed from what Pikler and Gerber wrote about.
