This is a not a self-help blog. I do not enjoy the self-help genre in which experts tell me, someone they have never met and know nothing about, what choices they think I should make for my life. What I find to be more helpful is when experts tell me what they know (the short version), what choices they made because of what they know, and how it worked out. That is what I do in this blog.
If you want a personal consultation, I do offer Skype/Zoom appointments in which I can tell you -- not what you should do -- but what I would do in your particular situation.
I also write this blog because I am hoping you will contact me. I seek a wider social network. If you enjoy my work, if you and I are on similar journeys, if you have an area of expertise I could call you about sometime, if you have kids or a farm and would enjoy a visitor if I am ever in your area -- I love traveling and meeting people this way. I am currently studying religions and would enjoy knowing your religion (or lack thereof and how you came to atheism). But mostly, I love people who take pride in their work, whatever it is, and people who are true experts in their fields. So please, email me and tell me about yourself.
I am also currently studying evolutionary biology. If you are into that, please let me know.
Please also contact me if you are able to work remotely and would be interested in living at my family’s farm in Nicaragua. You do not have to know Spanish. We have not accepted any of the applicants so far--we are still looking for the right person/people.
Please also contact me if you live in the north (Idaho, the Dakotas, Orkney, and Scandinavia are all places we are looking at) and know of farmland for sale or a business for sale in a farming area. We would like to have a rural property to visit in the north in addition to the paradise we have built in the south.
Please also contact me if you have a daughter who may be a good match for Anders.
The last thing that I would like to convey is that I have been reading a book a week (non-fiction) for almost twenty years. My ideas are always evolving, partly based around new information I acquire while reading, but also because much of parenting (and living) is done by trial and error.
I love the book I wrote on Objectivist parenting, and I recommend it. I also recommend certain aspects of Objectivism, but I think its heyday may be over, due to the failure of individualists to defend their way of life against collectivists who want to join their world but don’t understand how. I will share more about this in a new book I am working on, but for now I just wanted to say that though the ideologies of Objectivism, Libertarianism, and Anarchy are beautiful, they may be impractical during times of extreme social upheaval.
