Personal Updates and a Request

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to let you know first that I have not been slacking. In my hiatus from this blog, I have written five books. They are awesome, but they are all in rough draft form and need to be edited. They are not and have not been my highest priority at the moment (raising my two amazing boys is), but I wanted to let you know -- I have not abandoned this incredible project.

I am currently working on everyone's favorite post of the year -- my report on Anders's schooling. It will be out soon.

It blows my mind that this blog still reaches so many people, especially after I have neglected it for so long. Thanks for sticking with me.

I apologize for not responding to your emails. I am so sad that I do not have time for more that anymore. I want everyone to know that I love hearing all of your issues. Every single one is a fascinating puzzle to me, and I want to help you solve it -- I just don't have the time to respond in a detailed way. What I can offer (for now) is a short response in which I recommend a book or two that will help you solve your issue or a phone consultations in which I am compensated for my time. Please see my contact page for more info on this.

And now the purpose of this post:

I am seeking a wider social network. If you enjoy my work, if you and I are on similar journeys, if you have an area of expertise I could call you about sometime, if you have kids or a farm and would enjoy a visitor if I am ever in your area -- I love traveling and meeting people this way. I am currently studying religions and would enjoy knowing your religion, especially from a family history perspective. But mostly, I love people who take pride in their work, whatever it is, and people who are true experts in their fields. So please, email me and tell me about yourself.

I am also currently studying evolutionary biology. If you are into that, please let me know.

I love multigenerational family business stories. If you are living one, I would love to hear from you.

Please also contact me if you are able to work remotely and would be interested in living at my family’s farm in Nicaragua. You do not have to know Spanish. We have not accepted any of the applicants so far--we are still looking for the right person/people.

Please also contact me if you live in the north (Idaho, Alaska, the Dakotas, Orkney, and Scandinavia are all places we are looking at) and know of farmland for sale or a business for sale in a farming area. We would like to have a rural property to visit in the north in addition to the paradise we have built in the south.

Please also contact me if you have a daughter who may be a good match for Anders.

Anders would like me to add that he would especially like you to contact me if you work as a metal smith, in robotics, in weapons or defense systems developments, or as a lawyer, especially in the field of family wealth management such as estates or trusts, and you would be interested in having him intern with you or just go to work with you sometime in the future.

My email is roslynross@gmail.com :)

All the best,

Roslyn

  1. Roslyn—five books?!! Congratulations. I’m so excited to read them. (Also, if you are interested in having an early reader or editor, I offer my services. I was editor of my high school newspaper, did editing in college, and worked as an early reader/editor for another self-published book.)

I am also seeking a wider social network! I am in a play group of other SAHMs yet only have surface-level relationships due to difference in life-philosophy and parenting. (I remarked to my husband that sometimes I feel like an alien.) I would love to get to know another like-minded mom.

I am happy to tell you about my former religion (LDS/Mormon) and I have a 3.5 year old daughter (and one child on the way). Other than religion and education, my areas of education and life experience are interior and landscape design (college), controlling groups/cults, Waldorf Education (trained, but not currently affiliated), eating and feeding psychology and biology, minimalism/efficiency/home systems, some Spanish language (through AP-level in high school, some university, but out of practice).

My husband is able to work remotely! I would love to visit (maybe live for a while?) in Nicaragua, and he is willing to consider it (I think if he had a conversation with you and possibly Tom to hear more about what it would be like he would be into it).

We live in Michigan—not sure if that is far enough north but there is a lot of affordable farm land here (we have dreams of setting up some type of farm someday). My husband’s sister lives in Idaho and has a cattle ranch (very beautiful and mountainous, with natural rainfall—no need to irrigate). They have mentioned that their neighbors may be looking to sell land. I could put you in touch with them, if you like.

My daughter may be a good match for Anders. :-) They have a 5.5-ish year age gap, not sure if that would be a problem (depends how young he wants to get married, haha). She is very articulate, an introvert, loves the outdoors (especially hiking and riding horses), and loves learning about almost anything. I think she would like observing Anders and then playing with him when she feels comfortable (this is how she is with most new relationships—quiet/observing at first, then very boisterous and interactive when she is ready, which can take hours or days, depending on the person). I would love to see how she interacts with Anders, especially—another child raised with NVC, no Disney/cartoons, being in the real world etc. So hard to find those children!
